JCM Associates, Inc. is hiring HVAC Start-up/Commissioning Technicians for full time year-round positions in commercial mechanical construction projects in the MD, VA, and DC area.

Our main office and fabrication facilities are in Upper Marlboro, MD - located just 20 minutes from DC. We provide wellness programs and an in-house gym as well as many social functions throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities
- Start-up, commission, maintain, and service industrial/commercial HVAC systems and plumbing equipment. Troubleshoots and locates malfunctions, diagnoses problems, and determines appropriate repairs.
- Utilize laptops/tablets to document startup and commissioning forms required per project specifications.
- Works from blueprints, drawings, models, and/or verbal and written instructions.
- Prove mechanical and plumbing systems being controlled by building automation systems to third party Commissioning firm.
- Shares partial supervision of NEBB Tab contractor and responds to punch listed equipment.
- Interface and coordinate activities with ATC sub-contractor.
- Servicing and repairing evaporators, condensers, and receivers. Repacking valves, lubricating moving parts, replacing filters, and cleaning coils.
- Adjusting, repairing, or replacing thermostats, relays, switches, and electrical wiring.
- Repairing or replacing compressors and components, electric motors, fans, belts, and pulleys.
- Maintaining refrigerant inventory and consumption logs.
- Following established safety procedures and utilizing safety protective equipment and clothing pertaining to trades or skills.
- Performing other related duties as assigned by direct manager.
- Completing some minor copper tubing; cutting and threading pipe; making pipe and low voltage connections.
- Providing proper methods of storing and maintaining tools, equipment, and supplies in a safe and orderly condition.
- Meting schedules and timelines.
- Recording and reporting all faults, deficiencies, and other unusual occurrences, as well as the time and materials expended on work orders.
- Testing pipe or tubing joints and connections for leaks, using pressure gauge or soap-and-water solution.
- Teaching and instructing helpers on the installation of a HVAC system.
Minimum Skills/Requirements
- CFC/Universal License
- 5 years of experience building commercial mechanical projects or equipment
- Effective communication skills
- Knowledge of commercial HVAC systems
- Ability to read, understand, and work from drawings, specifications, and schematics
- Understanding of written and verbal instructions
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Attendance, reliability, dependability, and flexibility
- Ability to interact with multiple personality types while ensuring a positive outcome
