About the role
Comfort Systems USA Shoffner is seeking a Journeyman HVAC Service Technician to perform maintenance, repairs, modifications, and troubleshooting on various HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, roof-top units, and unitary HVAC equipment.
Responsibilities
- Performs routine and preventative maintenance on equipment's mechanical components.
- Supports equipment such as chillers, compressors, purge units, cooling towers, pumps/motors, valves, boilers, RTUs and unitary equipment.
- Chiller/boiler components and supporting equipment, meters, relays, sensors, analog, VFD’s, switches, controllers, gauges, thermostats, and other similar devices.
- Performs major repairs/teardowns/rebuilds on chillers and boilers.
- Follows all EPA guidelines in recovering refrigerant, replacement of O-rings, gaskets, seals and bearings, sleeve Babbitt, thrust/counterthrust and roller bearings.
- Performs boiler inspections and PM teardowns per current state code guidelines.
- Performs chiller/boiler repair/rebuild to manufacturer’s specifications.
- Performs work on cooling tower gear boxes, drive couplings, intermediate shafts, fan blade pitches, centrifugal pumps, and seal replacements.
- Utilizes CFC and HCFC refrigerant recovery equipment, maintains records and performs all service and maintenance repairs in accordance with current EPA regulations.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed.
Requirements
- Post-secondary vocational or technical school diploma in HVAC or Refrigeration from an accredited Institution required OR a recognized apprenticeship program.
- 5+ years’ experience required.
- Military Veterans are encouraged to apply.
- Must have a clean driving record.
- EPA Certified.

- Work reaching above shoulders, crawling, squatting, kneeling, bending.

Pay
Your pay: $30+ per hour, depending on experience. Pay review annually. Your increases are based on your performance.
Schedule
Your schedule: 10-hour days and overtime when necessary. On call availability. Work in extremes of heat, cold and bad weather, indoors and outdoors. Stand and walk throughout the workday, and lift/carry up to 60 lbs. Work efficiently in confined spaces. Work reaching above shoulders, crawling, squatting, kneeling, bending.
