HVAC Service Apprentice
About the role
Comfort Systems USA Shoffner is seeking an HVAC Service Apprentice to join their team. Military Veterans are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Assist with performing HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting tasks safely in commercial and industrial settings on various types of split systems, packaged rooftop units, rooftop units, heat pumps, DX systems, pneumatic, electrical control systems, and other mechanical equipment.
- Avoid safety hazards and ensure compliance with all safety protocols.
- Assist with preventative maintenance tasks and repair of commercial HVAC equipment as needed.
- Diagnose causes of breakdowns, test parts with appropriate instruments, disassemble and assemble parts, and make necessary repairs to equipment and associated components as needed.
- Utilize electrical and mechanical diagnostic tools to maintain systems.
- Complete required electronic documentation daily on a handheld device.
- Work independently, and as part of a team, to complete assigned tasks within an allotted time frame.
- Operate company vehicle to complete service calls in a specified territory.
- Perform other related duties or special projects, as assigned.
Requirements
- Prior completion of an HVAC trade school program.
- Maintenance or Electrical knowledge is preferred.
Qualifications
- Ability to keep a drug-free workplace.
- Punctuality and reliability.
- Ability to work in extremes of heat, cold, and bad weather, indoors and outdoors.
- Standing and walking throughout the workday, lifting/carrying up to 60 lbs.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Ability to reach above shoulders, crawl, squat, kneel, bend.
Skills
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems and components.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay
Your starting pay is dependent upon experience. Continued growth depends on you. Annual pay reviews.
