About the role

Mechanical Systems and Service (MSS) is a Crete United company in West Monroe, LA, a specialty contractor in heating ventilating and air conditioning. Our team is looking to hire a Commercial HVAC technician to troubleshoot, maintain, repair and install HVAC systems. This position will be based out of Lake Charles and cover the surrounding counties.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine repairs to pump seals, bearing, etc.
  • Inspect and test systems to verify system compliance with plans and specifications or to detect and locate malfunctions.
  • Determine customer concerns with HVAC and boiler systems.
  • Follow standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area.
  • Record and report faults, deficiencies, and other unusual occurrences, as well as the time and materials expended on work orders.
  • Adjust system controls to setting recommended by manufacturer to balance system.
  • Recommend, develop, or perform maintenance procedures such as cleaning, power-washing, or vacuuming equipment, lubricate parts, or changing filters.
  • Install auxiliary components to heating-cooling equipment, such as expansion and discharge valves, air ducts, pipes, blowers, dampers, flues, and stokers, following blueprints.
  • Study blueprints, design specifications, and manufacturers' recommendations to ascertain the configuration of heating or cooling equipment components and to ensure the proper installation of components.
  • Fabricate, assemble, or install duct work or chassis parts, using portable metal-working tools or welding equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of commercial HVAC maintenance experience.
  • Universally EPA Certified.
  • Ability to troubleshoot HVAC components with built up systems and package units, which may include chiller air handler pump towers, cooling towers, control systems, boilers and air handling systems.
  • Ability to learn commercial expertise in boilers, chillers, pneumatic controls, digital controls and packaged HVAC equipment.
  • Ability to read electronic schematics.
  • High School diploma/GED required + equivalent work experience.
