Mechanical Systems & Service (MSS), located in West Monroe, LA, is expanding our operations and seeking an experienced HVAC/R technician to join our team. This position covers the Jackson, MS area along with parts of AL and LA, and requires travel to these locations.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine repairs to pump seals, bearings, etc.
- Inspect and test systems to verify compliance with plans and specifications or to detect and locate malfunctions.
- Determine customer concerns with HVAC and boiler systems.
- Follow standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and maintenance of a clean work area.
- Record and report faults, deficiencies, and other unusual occurrences, as well as time and materials expended on work orders.
- Adjust system controls to settings recommended by the manufacturer to balance the system.
- Recommend, develop, or perform maintenance procedures such as cleaning, power-washing, or vacuuming equipment; lubricate parts; or change filters.
- Install auxiliary components to heating-cooling equipment, such as expansion and discharge valves, air ducts, pipes, blowers, dampers, flues, and stokers, following blueprints.
- Study blueprints, design specifications, and manufacturers' recommendations to ascertain the configuration of heating or cooling equipment components and ensure proper installation.
- Fabricate, assemble, or install ductwork or chassis parts using portable metal-working tools or welding equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 5+ years of commercial HVAC maintenance experience.
- Universally EPA Certified.
- Ability to troubleshoot HVAC components with built-up systems and package units, which may include chiller air handler pump towers, cooling towers, control systems, boilers, and air handling systems.
- Ability to learn commercial expertise in boilers, chillers, pneumatic controls, digital controls, and packaged HVAC equipment.
- Ability to read electronic schematics.
- High School diploma/GED required + equivalent work experience.
