HVAC Mechanical Systems Apprentice Technician (Union)
About the role
Johnson Controls is seeking an HVAC Mechanical Apprentice to join our team. You’ll gain hands-on experience with heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems while working alongside industry-leading professionals. The role includes factory certification through our Service Technical Academy (STA), tools, a vehicle, and opportunities for advancement, recognition, and monetary rewards.
As a trusted advisor, you’ll provide solutions to improve building efficiency and resolve service-related issues for customers.
Responsibilities
- Train and perform on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls at client sites.
- Participate in certified training through the Service Technical Academy to build technical and customer-service skills.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and customer needs with coaching and mentorship.
- Keep Johnson Controls, contractors, and customers informed of job progress and issues.
- Meet attendance requirements for first-year Union training.
- Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facilities run efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
- Prepare quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
- Prioritize safety in all aspects of the role.
Requirements
- Must be a member or willing to join the local union.
- Tech-savvy, with experience using AI tools and handheld devices.
- General knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, and peripheral equipment installation/servicing techniques.
- Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls professionally and ethically to customers and external contacts.
- Leadership skills to support Mechanics working on non-complex, non-critical HVAC equipment.
- Self-starter with the ability to eventually work independently.
- Valid driver’s license.
Qualifications
Preferred: 1-2 years of trade school or college with a technical emphasis.
Pay
Hourly rate determined by the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) rate sheet.
