HVAC Mechanic I
About the role
The HVAC Mechanic I position at OSF HealthCare is part of Pointcore, a healthcare industry service provider that extends resources to hospitals and health systems. This role supports the maintenance and installation of HVAC systems, BAS monitoring, and life safety and medical gas infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Performs routine maintenance, diagnostics, and basic repairs on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
- Aids in system installations.
- Supports Building Automation System (BAS) monitoring and data updates.
- Maintains life safety and medical gas-related infrastructure.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED.
- 3 years of experience in HVAC service, mechanical trades, building maintenance, or related technical work.
- Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Section 608 Type I Certification within 6 months of hire.
- Valid driver’s license.
Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail-oriented.
- Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
- Basic understanding of refrigeration, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Prior experience with air handling equipment, thermostats, or BAS environments.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Pay
Expected pay for this position is $25.10 - $29.54/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills, and internal equity.
