Job Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and operate commercial HVAC systems across Mecklenburg County facilities including chillers and cooling towers, Air Handling Units (AHUs) and Rooftop Units (RTUs), boilers and heating systems, Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
- Perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and mechanical systems.
- Operate and monitor building automation systems (BAS), including systems such as Schneider Electric and Johnson Controls.
- Inspect HVAC equipment, boilers, pumps, compressors, air handlers, ventilation systems, and related mechanical infrastructure.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, operational logs, and safety documentation.
- Support emergency maintenance response activities and critical system troubleshooting.
- Cookorate with maintenance teams, subcontractors, and facilities personnel to complete service requests and operational projects.
- Utilize safety procedures and OSHA-compliant work practices while performing all maintenance activities.
- Participate in rotational on-call and emergency response schedules as required.
- Travel throughout the Charlotte and Mecklenburg County region to support assigned facilities.
Qualifications
- Valid North Carolina H1 or H2 HVAC License required.
- Must be a Certified HVAC Technician.
- HVAC Diploma, Trade School certification, or equivalent technical training required.
- 5-7+ years of commercial HVAC experience preferred.
- Experience operating and troubleshooting commercial HVAC systems and building automation systems required.
- Experience with Schneider Electric, Johnson Controls, or similar BAS platforms preferred.
- EPA Universal Certification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, refrigeration systems, preventative maintenance, and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Able to read technical manuals, schematics, and equipment specifications preferred.
- Maintain all required licenses and certifications.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
- Comfortable traveling throughout the greater Charlotte service area.
- Strong communication and customer service skills required.
