HVAC Data Center Journeymen Mechanic (union)
About the role
Johnson Controls Inc. is looking for forward-thinking talent to join our organization to support the fast-growing HVAC business in North America. You’ll work on light commercial and/or heavy commercial teams with advanced equipment, partnering with Journeymen on centrifugal, steam turbines, absorption machines, open-drive screw chillers, and ammonia systems. Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and provide aftermarket services for HVACR systems, including rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, and plumbing.
- Perform mechanical shaft alignment using dial indicators on pumps, fans, and compressors.
- Use vibration equipment to troubleshoot drivelines.
- Provide customers with solutions and outcomes at commissioning and during aftermarket service, including recommendations to improve facility efficiency and upselling opportunities.
- Provide quotes to support recommendations and participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program.
- Document problems, causes, and corrective actions in writing and communicate them to customers.
- Travel 10% to 20% to support branch customer activities, including troubleshooting, installation, and repair.
Requirements
- Minimum of three (3) years of commercial and/or industrial mechanical troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry.
- Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
- Universal EPA refrigerant license, applicable state or local licensing, and a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies in HVAC systems and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Self-starter with a passion for learning and applying skills on the job, prioritizing safety in all forms.
- Strong interpersonal, digital, and written communication skills.

Pay
$41 hourly rate determined by the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) and rate sheet.
