HVAC Controls Installer

About the Role

This is an entry-level, full-time, hourly position involving the installation of components for building automation systems. We are seeking a diligent and self-driven worker with attention to detail, who is teachable, open to constructive criticism, and has a propensity to learn.

Responsibilities

• Install HVAC and building automation controls on new construction, remodeled, and service locations.
• Install communication and control wire in various locations, including above ceiling grids, through interior and exterior walls, tight crawl spaces, and high places.
• Install control devices in hard-to-reach locations.
• Install controllers and terminate wires for sensors and actuators using wiring diagrams.
• Read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and wiring diagrams.

Requirements

• Minimum of one-year technical certificate in HVAC or equivalent from an accredited institution, or 2 years of experience in an HVAC-related field (preferred).
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a company vehicle (must be 21 years of age or older).
• Ability to pass a drug screening test.
• Possession of a basic set of tools (screwdriver, drill, etc.).

Qualifications

• Aptitude for electrical wiring and reading/interpreting wiring diagrams.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications for a project.
• Skill in bending conduit to fit an application.
• Ability to climb ladders and work at moderate heights (mostly between 20 and 30 feet).
• Capability to lift equipment up to 75 pounds.
• Willingness to work after hours and weekends when necessary.
• Ability to use a multi-meter.
• Desire and aptitude to eventually lead a crew.

Physical Demands

• Ability to operate machinery and equipment, including electronic and diagnostic tools, recovery equipment, and plumbing equipment.
• Physical ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, see, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions.
• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently.

Work Environment

This job operates primarily alone, with travel to different work sites each day. Work may be performed in tight spaces, typically indoors, but may also be outdoors in poor weather conditions. Vehicles are used as the base of operations.
