About the role

The Human Trafficking Specialist at Volunteers of America Delaware Valley supports the Navigator Program by conducting outreach in designated human trafficking “hot spot” areas, engaging potential victims, completing assessments, and connecting individuals to appropriate victim services. This role also collaborates with the Navigator Program to ensure that non-HT individuals are referred for appropriate assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Congduct outreach in areas identified as potential human trafficking hot spots
  • Encounter, engage, and build trust with potential victims of human trafficking
  • Complete thorough assessments and connect individuals to appropriate victim services
  • Collect assessment and related research data and enter information into the Give Hope Database
  • Work side by side with the Navigator Program to ensure non-HT individuals are referred for appropriate assistance
  • Serve as a liaison between the program, community partners, and outside agencies
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with funding agencies, partnering agencies, and community resources
  • Identify and respond to appropriate outreach and human trafficking-related training opportunities
  • Attend required staff meetings, conferences, trainings, and grant-required HT assessment trainings
  • Maintain professional knowledge by attending educational workshops on human trafficking-related topics
  • Plan and present community forums/information sessions on behalf of VOADV three times per year
  • Identify and present matters requiring decision-making to the Regional IMPACT Director
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with operational policies and procedures
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 2 years of human services experience required; 5 years preferred

Qualifications

  • Experience working with trauma-informed care and/or victims of human trafficking
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and follow-through
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Access, Excel, and Word
  • Ability to build positive relationships with clients, staff, community members, law enforcement, funders, and partner agencies
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet agency driving standards

Pay

The salary range for this position is $40,000 - $50,000 annually.

Schedule

The Human Trafficking Specialist works full-time, with some evening and weekend hours required for outreach activities.
