Human Services Assistant
About the role
This position works as an experienced human services professional with a positive and “can-do” attitude as part of our Business Operations department.
Responsibilities
- Execute CSB check-in and check-out procedures using the electronic health record (EHR)
- Schedule and reconcile clinical and medical appointments in the EHR based on approved protocol for notification
- Field phone and in-person inquiries made by the public, clients, and staff in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner and assess for level of risk or emergency intervention
- Open and close program assignments in the EHR
- Update financial and demographic information required in all client profiles in the EHR and process payments
- Verify insurance coverage
- Monitor, research, arrange, and conduct annual review/updates of the EHR record with clients to ensure information is accurate and fees are properly set
Requirements
- Clear and concise communication orally and in writing
- Multi-tasking and prioritizing work
- Detail-oriented, accurate in data entry, organized
- Excellent customer service skills
- Able to work in a fast-paced team environment
Qualifications
- High school or GED issued by state department of education; plus three years of work experience, including two years in some area of human services (related two-year [associate] degree may be substituted for the required human service experience)
Skills
- Expertise in several databases related to the EHR, revenue cycle management, as well as Microsoft Office software

Schedule
Part-time position providing support at the following locations: Herndon Neighborhood Resource Center and James Lee Community Center. Scheduled hours are 9:00am to 5:30pm, with Wednesdays being half days.
Location

Foreign Language Skills Stipend
A foreign language skills stipend of up to $800/year (part-time) may be given for qualified bi-lingual employees.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to answer phones and use a keyboard driven equipment
- Ability to communicate clearly with others
- Ability to conduct various screenings on individuals upon entry to CSB facilities
- Ability to travel to various CSB sites to attend meetings or perform work duties; maneuver through multi-floor buildings; bend/stretch; carry up to 25lbs
