About the Role

The Talent Acquisition HR Business Partner provides leadership and direction in processing recommendations and other hiring processes that align with Federal, State, and Local laws in accordance with Fort Wayne Community Schools policies and procedures. The role involves complex vetting and administrative activities under the supervision of the Manager of Hiring, supporting the District’s mission, vision, goals, and the Human Resources Strategic Plan.

Responsibilities

  • Advise District personnel on recommending and hiring applicants to ensure alignment with HR guidelines, Federal, State, and Local laws.
  • Provide leadership on applicant recommendations and hiring information.
  • Assist the Hiring Manager in implementing and evaluating hiring area goals and continuous improvement processes.
  • Ensure adherence to district policies and procedures pertaining to hiring.
  • Oversee the review, assembly, and maintenance of new hire files as needed.
  • Exercise independent judgment in researching, investigating, and resolving applicant, staff, and/or public complaints and concerns.
  • Communicate with the Indiana Department of Education to ensure adherence to State guidelines for licensure and new hire requirements.
  • Train and support school administrators and staff on various software systems.
  • Serve as HR technical support contact for the PowerSchool applicant tracking system.
  • Analyze new hire recommendation data with district allocations to approve or deny requests and communicate decisions to Unit Heads.
  • Perform specialized human resources activities, including recruitment, screening, processing, employment orientation, and placement of administrative, certified, and classified personnel.
  • Review, evaluate, and verify applicant information and documents.
  • Serve as a technical resource for employees, unit heads, and applicants regarding employment and personnel functions, including laws, regulations, contracts, and policies.
  • Assist in the hiring process for Administrative, Certified, Classified, and Coaching employees; develop and analyze job information to determine correct salary, qualifications, and job descriptions for posting vacancies.
  • Review and process new hire files for final approval, verifying eligibility, work experience, references, transcripts, licenses, test scores, background information, and criminal history reports.
  • Communicate daily with recommended applicants regarding additional information needed and employment status.
  • Contact internal transfers regarding required paperwork, transcripts, or licensure for transfer.
  • Support the review and approval of district athletic volunteers and independent contractors.
  • Support the review and approval of substitute position assignment sheets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Leadership and Supervision, or a business-related field preferred, or
  • Four or more years of experience in Human Resources, specifically in hiring, pre-employment, and onboarding.
  • Extensive experience in Human Resources hiring, recruiting, training, onboarding, or related areas preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Mobility: Freedom to sit or walk throughout the work environment.
  • Strength and Stamina: Capability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds or more.
