This recruitment is part of the Operation Hire Hawaii (OH-HI) project, a targeted outreach initiative with an expedited hiring process for qualified applicants. Applications will be reviewed for legal authorization to work in the U.S. and forwarded to the hiring department for consideration.

Pay

  • Human Resources Specialist IV: $5,527 to $6,728 per month (SR-22, Step D to I)
  • Human Resources Specialist V: $6,221 to $7,568 per month (SR-24, Step D to I)

Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, applicant qualifications, and other relevant factors.

Responsibilities

  • Independently plan, develop, and conduct complex statewide recruitment and examination activities for Executive Branch civil service positions.
  • Human Resources Specialist IV: Perform human resources assignments involving complex problems and management advisory services.
  • Human Resources Specialist V: Handle the most difficult human resources work independently, provide management advisory services for complex or dynamic organizations, or serve as a specialist/consultant for resolving very complex human resources problems.

Requirements

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Legal Authorization: Must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the U.S., or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
  • Education: A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university.
  • Experience:
    • Human Resources Specialist IV: Two and one-half years of professional experience in human resources management functions (e.g., recruitment, placement, examination, classification, pay administration, labor relations, or human resources research).
    • Human Resources Specialist V: Three and one-half years of such experience.
  • Selective Certification: One year of professional experience must be in recruitment and/or examination of civil service positions in the State of Hawaii or local government jurisdictions (e.g., Judiciary, City and County of Honolulu).
