Duties

Preparing employment transactions in accordance with Civil Service Law
Reviewing and preparing requests for new positions, reclassifications, and increases in minimum hiring rates
Developing recruitment strategies
Corresponding with potential applicants about job opportunities
Counseling employees as needed
Overseeing the administration of time and attendance rules

Requirements

• Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.
• Minimum Qualifications: Six (6) years of experience performing and supervising the performance of various human resources activities such as staffing services, which consist of recruitment, examination, and placement activities; position classification and compensation; and employee services such as employee benefit, health and safety, employee counseling, and employee recognition.
• To be advanced to the full performance level, Human Resources Specialist 1, you must successfully complete a 2-year traineeship.
• Additional Comments: Salary range listed encompasses the hiring rate of a Human Resources Specialist Trainee 1 (SG-NS) through the job rate of a Human Resources Specialist 1 (SG-18).

Qualifications

• An associate's degree can substitute for two (2) years of specialized experience; a bachelor’s degree can substitute for four (4) years of experience; a master’s degree in a related field can substitute for five (5) years of experience; and a doctorate in a related field can substitute for six (6) years of experience.
• Additional Comments: Salary range listed encompasses the hiring rate of a Human Resources Specialist Trainee 1 (SG-NS) through the job rate of a Human Resources Specialist 1 (SG-18).
