Human Resources Specialist 1/Trainee (NY HELPS) - 00546
Duties Description
The HRS 1 will administer DOH’s reasonable accommodation program and follow technical requirements in accordance with Federal and State EEOC/ADA guidelines, assess supporting documentation provided for appropriateness in support of the reasonable accommodation request, engage in the interactive process with employees and program managers/supervisors in support of the reasonable accommodation process, advise employees and programs on purchasing of appropriate equipment for reasonable accommodation requests; represent DOH at various job fairs and community events in support of attracting a diverse talent pool to meet DOH’s critical staffing needs; assist with the administration and recruitment of Student Assistants; collect and organize data associated with recruitment and retention; provide relevant training to supervisors, managers, and directors.
Minimum Qualifications
- Human Resources Specialist Trainee 1: Four years of experience performing and supervising the performance of various human resources activities such as staffing services, which consist of recruitment, examination, and placement activities; position classification and compensation; and employee services such as employee benefit, health and safety, employee counseling, and employee recognition.
- Human Resources Specialist Trainee 2: Five years of experience performing and supervising the performance of various human resources activities such as staffing services, which consist of recruitment, examination, and placement activities; position classification and compensation; and employee services such as employee benefit, health and safety, employee counseling, and employee recognition.
- Human Resources Specialist 1: Six years of experience performing and supervising the performance of various human resources activities such as staffing services, which consist of recruitment, examination, and placement activities; position classification and compensation; and employee services such as employee benefit, health and safety, employee counseling, and employee recognition.
Additional Comments
This position is part of the NYS HELPS program. No examination is required. This position may require travel throughout New York State including overnights to areas not served by public transportation.
