General Responsibilities
To serve as the primary Human Resources Partner (HRP) for the Department of Medical Education, Medical Education Information Services (MEIS), and selected Dean's Office initiatives. To independently manage human resources services for faculty, staff, trainees, and leaders across multiple departments and programs.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary Human Resources partner and advisor to department administrators and management teams across Medical Education, MEIS, MHIBI, MHIGH, and designated Dean's Office units.
- Provide strategic consultation on workforce planning, organizational design, staffing models, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness initiatives.
- Manage employee relations matters by assessing workplace concerns, conducting investigations, recommending solutions, and promoting a positive work environment.
- Counsel leaders on performance management, corrective action, disciplinary processes, conflict resolution, and employee engagement strategies.
- Partner with HSOM Dean's HR Leadership and Employee Relations on personnel matters and risk mitigation efforts.
- Deliver coaching, guidance, and training to supervisors and managers on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Conduct compensation analyses and salary assessments to support recruitment, retention, equity, and workforce planning initiatives.
- Evaluate position classifications and lead reclassification reviews to ensure alignment with organizational needs and compensation guidelines.
- Advise leadership regarding market competitiveness, compensation strategy, and internal equity considerations.
- Lead recruitment strategy consultations with hiring managers and department leadership.
- Guide departments through the recruitment lifecycle, including position development, candidate evaluation, interview processes, and selection recommendations.
- Partner with leadership to support employee retention, career development, and succession planning initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with University policies, employment regulations, accreditation standards, and institutional requirements.
- Lead HR-related projects and strategic initiatives supporting Medical Education, MEIS, and Dean's Office priorities.
- Support organizational change initiatives, workforce transitions, and restructuring efforts through effective change management practices.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to achieve organizational objectives.
- Collaborate with HSOM Dean's Office HR leadership and stakeholders to coordinate and support the Heersink School of Medicine (HSOM) school-wide newsletter.
- Serve as a resource for faculty appointments, promotions, reappointments, and other academic personnel actions.
- Partner with Dean's Office leadership and Faculty Affairs to address faculty-related human resources matters and support academic workforce planning.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required.
- Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
