B. F. Saul Company Hospitality Group is a subsidiary of the largest private real estate company in the Washington, D.C. area, with over 130 years of operation. The Hospitality Group manages a portfolio of more than 20 business-class hotels under top brands such as Intercontinental Hotel Groups, Marriott International, Hilton, and Best Western Hotels, including The Watermark Hotel, The Hay-Adams Hotel, and Perch Putt. These properties are operated by a team of over 1,000 hospitality professionals. We are seeking a Human Resources Manager for The Watermark Hotel, an all-suite luxury hotel located in Capital One Center, featuring 300 residential suites. This role will oversee human resources for the hotel and report to the Director of Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Compensation/Benefits: Maintain relationships with area hotels and conduct regular wage surveys to ensure competitive wages. Work with B. F. Saul Company Hospitality Group’s HR/Payroll department to ensure timely processing of team member increases. Monitor and administer compensation/benefits for both hourly and salaried team members.
  • Recruitment/Retention: Manage the recruitment and retention process for the property for both hourly and salaried team members. Ensure fair hiring practices, including consistent completion of all new-hire paperwork. Implement and maintain recognition programs that reward and motivate team members. Play a key role in administering and following up with the Team Member Satisfaction Survey.
  • Team Member Relations: Provide leadership support in maintaining union-free status. Ensure fair and consistent application of federal, state, and local laws. Serve as a resource for performance management with hourly and salaried team members.
  • Cost Control: Manage expenses to exceed company/hotel profitability. Assist department managers in effectively managing labor costs through efficient use of Kronos and UltiPro. Follow procurement guidelines and apply good business judgment. Identify cost strategies between departments/hotels to capitalize on efficiencies.
  • Training: Analyze quality issues, identify training needs, and ensure implementation to improve results. Assist in the administration and delivery of all training and development programs. Utilize available resources and adhere to training policies.
  • Safety/Risk Management: Manage the workers’ compensation program and assist in providing a clean and safe work environment.
  • Self/Workload Management: Demonstrate effective self/workload management, clear communication, and collaboration. Promote a positive, professional work environment and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Two or more years of Human Resource experience, with a strong preference for experience in the hospitality or service industry.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with a professional presence.
  • Solid business focus in addition to effective interpersonal skills.
  • Luxury brand training background is preferred.
  • Excellent facilitation skills, organizational traits, and a strategic mindset.
  • Ability and flexibility to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with high visibility.
  • Physical ability to lift, push, and pull up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis.

Pay

$64,998 - $70,000 a year. The actual base pay offered is determined by several variables, including the applicant's qualifications, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, and certifications or professional licenses held.
