Hotel Equities, a multi-award-winning hotel development and hospitality management company, is searching for a Human Resources Generalist for the Farnam Hotel in Omaha, NE. Salary: $21.00 - $24.00/hour.
About the Role
Coordinate, administer, and report on various human resource programs, systems, and procedures to aid in the attraction, retention, and motivation of employees in accordance with policies, procedures, and government laws and regulations while promoting a safe, fair, and positive work environment. The position is responsible for recruiting and hiring primarily hourly employees and daily administration of various salary, benefit, government, and employee relations programs. Recommends and implements procedural and process changes.
Responsibilities
- Manage the employment process from recruitment to hiring.
- Recruit, screen, interview, perform reference checks, and coordinate department interviews for hourly candidates while maintaining applicant flow logs to ensure quality hires and compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Position the hotel as the "preferred employer" in the area by maintaining strong community relations with referral agencies to sustain a strong applicant flow.
- Coordinate and conduct employee orientation to introduce employees to the hotel/company, ensuring appropriate information is disseminated and forms are completed and processed (e.g., new hire forms, tax forms, benefit enrollment forms, I-9 forms, and overview of the company handbook and policies).
- Communicate, educate, and administer the employee benefit program in a timely, accurate manner, acting as the intermediary with insurance and retirement plan administrators.
- Reconcile all monthly billings to in-house rosters and coordinate and control all benefit notifications, enrollment, administration, and audits, including reimbursement, vacation, sick leave, leave of absences, jury duty pay, and 401(K) plans.
- Assist in the development, coordination, and implementation of various employee relations programs and events to ensure consistent administration and reduction of turnover.
- Provide open communication and promote a positive, pro-employee work environment while bringing sensitive employee-related information to the attention of the Director of Human Resources to limit liability.
- Prepare and monitor Payroll Action Forms and input/update payroll for new hires, terminations, and daily changes to ensure accurate, up-to-date information for payroll and management.
- Process forms and respond to inquiries regarding verification of employment, wages, unemployment compensation, and workers' compensation claims in a manner consistent with minimizing liability.
- Maintain employee records, files, and human resource office systems.
- Compile various corporate and property reports to provide management with accurate information and comply with corporate policies, procedures, and government laws and regulations.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Basic PC knowledge, minimum typing speed of 45 wpm, and ability to write and communicate professionally.
- Bi-lingual fluency is a plus.
- Hospitality-oriented with the ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Thorough knowledge of a technical or professional field, including policies and procedures, to perform non-repetitive analytical work.
- May require knowledge of supervision and management skills.
- Passion for people and service, with strong communication skills for interacting with guests and employees.
- Reading and writing abilities for completing paperwork, logging issues, complaints, requests, and information updates.
- Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, and training abilities.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
