Human Resources Generalist - Phoenix, AZ
About the role
The HR Generalist serves as a key partner to assigned business units by delivering comprehensive human resources support across multiple functional areas. This role is responsible for day-to-day HR operations including employee relations, policy interpretation, onboarding, leave administration, and compliance reporting.
Responsibilities
- Provides employee guidance on various HR topics, such as policies, benefits, etc., for assigned region(s).
- Supports performance management, compensation, employee engagement, and succession planning processes.
- Facilitates employee onboarding and offboarding, and process and maintain employment records.
- Manages the Leave of Absence program, including payroll entry to employee education.
- Affords assistance with the talent acquisition, recruitment, and LMS/training processes.
- Responds to law enforcement, EDD, legal counsel, ICE, and verification of employment requests.
- Supports the development and implementation of human resource policies.
- Reviews policies, procedures, and handbooks to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Affords assistance with monthly metrics entry by collecting and reporting data from various sources.
- Conducts or assists audits and investigations.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education Required: High School/GED
- Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities: Bachelor’s Degree and 3+ years of experience (or equal combination of education and experience).
- General knowledge of state and federal employment laws, standards, and best practices.
- Comfort with HR technologies, as well as, standard office and collaboration software.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain the integrity of confidential information.
- Ability to adapt in a changing work environment while remaining calm in volatile situations.
- Ability to foster and maintain good relationships at all levels.
- Exceptional listening, reading, communication (written & verbal), and problem-solving skills.
- PHIR or SPHR certification is desired, but not required.
Travel Requirements
This position does not require regular travel as part of its primary responsibilities. However, occasional travel may be required, up to 10%, primarily for occasional off-site meetings, training sessions, or company events. Travel, when necessary, will be communicated in advance and aligned with business needs.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
This position primarily operates in a professional office environment, requiring the ability to work at a desk for extended periods while using a computer, phone, and standard office equipment. The position involves sitting for extended periods, performing data entry, and engaging in frequent communication via email, phone, and in-person interactions. The role involves regular communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders, both in person and through virtual platforms. The physical demands of the job may include occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of office materials up to 15 pounds.
