About the role
The Human Resources Generalist (HRG) supports the day-to-day operations of human resources functions and employee relations for NVIH staff.
Responsibilities
- Provides full cycle Human Resources support to Supervisors and all NVIH staff on a variety of topics including policy interpretation, requests for information, employee engagement, performance management, and discipline.
- Manages Leave of Absence (LOA) process and requests for employees within assigned business unit; coordinates with third-party administrators, meets with employees to explain leave benefits, coordinates with payroll, and communicates with supervisors on Return to Work (RTW) status.
- Engages in Interactive Process for Reasonable Accommodation requests.
- Supports recruiting with managing recruiting activities such as opening requisitions, making offers, following processes, and collaborating with onboarding and recruiting teams.
- Effectively and thoroughly conducts workplace investigations in collaboration with other HRGs; provides recommendations to HR Leadership for approval before concluding the investigation.
- Coaches and mentors supervisors on policy interpretation and HR best practices to reduce risk to the agency on employee matters.
- Collaborates with HR Leadership on emergent and impactful employee matters affecting business units primarily served to ensure continuity of service to all departments and employees.
- Supports New Hire Orientations and Onboarding in coordination with other HRG staff and hiring managers.
- Delegates appropriate tactical tasks to HR Admin for efficiency and expeditious responses to customers.
- Supports HR Department with various projects to meet deadlines and manage assigned areas of HR or HR Programs.
- Provides solution-based feedback to HR Leadership on various items requiring escalation or areas identified as needing improvement.
- Supports internal and external customers with thorough communication and follow-through.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Human Resources, Business, or Healthcare Administration.
- Minimum of three (3) years of related HR experience, preferably in an HR Generalist role.
- Basic understanding of HR functions and reporting and recordkeeping requirements within scope of essential functions listed earlier in job description.
- Ability to diffuse conflict and provide relevant and effective solutions to Employee Relations matters, specifically; demonstrated competence in reacting to and handling high stress situations.
- Maintains an extremely high degree of confidentiality and provides support stakeholders using tact, diplomacy, and NVIH Core Values.
- Proficiency of all related computer applications, including but not limited to MS Office.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively prioritizing work assignments.
- Able to multitask and prioritize work for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in an organized manner.
- Possess excellent communications and public speaking abilities.
- Possess ability to provide excellent customer service by anticipating customer needs and leaving them feeling satisfied with their experience.
