About the role
The HR Generalist III serves as a trusted human resources partner, providing advanced HR consultation, guidance, and operational support to College of Nursing leadership, faculty, and staff. This position independently manages a broad range of complex HR functions and delivers strategic, data-informed recommendations to support workforce planning, employee relations, talent management, and organizational effectiveness.
Responsibilities
- Independently manages and oversees complex HR lifecycle activities for the College of Nursing, including employee appointment tracking, renewals, reappointments, and separations across all salary plans.
- Serves as the primary HR authority coordinating with department administrators to ensure employee changes, reappointment letters, terminations, and leave settlements are processed accurately, compliantly, and within required timelines.
- Reviews and approves all HR recruitment and hiring transactions in PeopleSoft, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and adherence to University, College, State, and Federal regulations.
- Manages the College’s onboarding program for all new employees, ensuring consistency, compliance, and a high quality onboarding experience.
- Authorizes Gator ID access and oversees business card requests for new employees.
- Manages and approves Alternate Work Location agreements in accordance with University policy.
- Provides independent oversight and quality assurance of payroll and leave administration for the College of Nursing.
- Reviews biweekly preliminary and final payroll reports for accuracy, ensuring compliance with University policies and payment timelines.
- Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) administration, including submission, tracking, documentation, and accurate entry of FMLA time in PeopleSoft.
- Monitors and tracks required training completion for all employees, proactively addressing deficiencies and ensuring compliance with University and regulatory training requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated experience providing advanced HR consultation and advisement to leadership, faculty, and staff in a complex organization or higher education environment.
- Extensive knowledge of employment laws and regulations (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, immigration/employment eligibility).
- Experience administering or overseeing faculty and staff recruitment, onboarding, payroll, leave, and separation processes across multiple employment classifications.
- Proven ability to interpret and apply institutional policies, recommend process improvements, and resolve complex or sensitive HR issues independently.
- Experience working with HR information systems (e.g., PeopleSoft or similar enterprise systems) and managing data integrity and reporting.
- Experience supporting international employees or scholars, including coordination with immigration vendors and international employment offices.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to assess risk and ensure compliance.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to build trust and communicate effectively with all organizational levels.
- Experience in higher education, healthcare, or other highly regulated environments preferred.
