About the Role
Under the general supervision of the Senior Executive Director of Human Resources, the HR Generalist provides broad-based support across multiple functional areas, including Staffing, Recruitment, Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, Leaves, HRIS, and Employee Support. This position is designed to offer flexible, timely support, adapting to shifting departmental needs and priorities. The HR Generalist plays an essential role in delivering high-quality, accurate HR services to support MMSD’s staff, schools, communities, and scholars.

Responsibilities
- Staffing, Recruitment, and Licensing Support (20%): Assist with recruitment, staffing, and licensing processes.
- Employee Support (20%): Provide guidance and support to employees on HR-related matters.
- HRIS & Data Management (20%): Maintain and manage HR information systems and data.
- Payroll, Compensation, Benefits, and Leaves (20%): Support payroll processing, compensation, benefits administration, and leave management.
- Other Duties as Assigned (20%): Perform additional tasks to support departmental needs.
Requirements
- One to two (1-2) years of experience in human resources or a related administrative function in a professional environment.
- Demonstrated ability to establish relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of core HR principles and practices across multiple functional areas.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
- Analytical and detail-oriented approach to reviewing data and documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including drafting professional correspondence.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and other common software applications; ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Commitment to anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (ability to read, write, and speak fluently).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work under generally safe and comfortable conditions with minimal exposure to environmental risks.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- May involve walking, sitting, stooping, or reaching.
- Manual dexterity for operating office equipment.
- Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
- Ability to work in various indoor and outdoor environments, including spaces without air conditioning or with fluctuating temperatures.
Working Conditions
- May require travel to different locations within the district and to off-site meetings.
- Occasional evenings and weekend work in support of district events.
- Certain positions may allow for remote/work-from-home flexibility for a portion of the work schedule, depending on the needs of the position and work unit.
