About the Role
As a Human Resources Generalist, you will support the HR function for Seyfarth Shaw’s New York, Charlotte and Miami offices. In this role, you will operate in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and act as a point of contact for all employees on process and procedures, and guidance on all aspects of the employee life cycle.
Responsibilities
- Interpret and implement human resources policies and procedures for attorneys and support staff
- Support all internal and external HR related inquiries or requests
- Provide guidance to supervisors for human resource employee management including counseling, coaching, employee development and retention, warnings and performance improvement plans, and termination recommendations
- Maintain digital records of employees
- Manage Family Medical Leave and ADA requirements
- Manage new hire orientation, onboarding, I-9 verifications, and staff integration process
- Complete termination paperwork, conduct exit interviews, record responses, analyze survey reports, and recommend areas for improvement
- Process personnel action forms, unemployment claims, and Affirmative Action reports
- Assist National Recruitment team with staff recruitment, writing job descriptions, sourcing qualified candidates, and preparing offer letters
- Partner with the Regional HR Director to assist with the annual evaluation process and ad hoc projects
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree or previous experience in a related field such as business administration or human resources is preferred
- PHR or equivalent certificate preferred
- 4+ years of experience in HR within law firms or professional services supporting multiple offices
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal employment law and EEO guidelines
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive matters and respond effectively to such situations

Pay
The salary range for this role is $76,000 to $102,000 annually, based on a 40-hour work week. This range is applicable for jobs performed in New York City. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors including relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, and business or organizational needs.
