Human Resources Generalist
The Ocean House Collections includes 3 luxury properties: The Ocean House (a Forbes 5-Star property with 49 luxury guest rooms and 20 signature suites), The Cottage Collection (10 privately owned vacation homes), and The Ocean & Harvest Spa (a 12,000 square foot Forbes Travel Guide 5-Star rated full-service health wellness spa). The collection also features over 10,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space, up to 8 unique dining options during the summer season (including Coast, a Forbes Travel Guide 5-Star rated fine dining experience), The Weekapaug Inn (31 unique guest rooms and 4 two-bedroom signature suites with farm-to-table dining), and The Watch Hill Inn (21 suite-style accommodations with access to dining, amenities, and resort activities at both Ocean House and Weekapaug Inn).
About the role
The Human Resources Generalist serves as a trusted HR partner to managers and employees across the Ocean House Collection, supporting HR operations, compliance, benefit administration, and employee engagement, while fostering a positive workplace culture and exceptional employee experience. This role offers growth opportunities with exposure to all functional areas of Human Resources, including employee relations, benefits, compliance, HR technology, talent management, and organizational development.
Schedule
Due to the nature of hospitality operations, occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and additional hours may be required to meet business needs.
Responsibilities
- HRIS Administration: Oversee and maintain the organization’s internal Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), including database management, customization, development, maintenance, and upgrades. Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance to HR employees. Collaborate with leadership to identify improvements and implement solutions. Manage permissions, access, and system operations for users.
- Unemployment Claims & Audits: Review and respond to unemployment claims. Conduct necessary audits on Human Resources functions.
- File Management: Maintain files in HRIS, SharePoint, shared drives, and other systems.
- Employee Benefits: Partner with HR leadership to administer employee benefits programs (group health, flexible spending accounts, dental/vision, accident/disability, life insurance, 401(k), and wellness benefits). Coordinate open enrollment, conduct benefit meetings, and explain self-enrollment systems. Process benefit enrollments, life-event changes, and maintain filing systems. Assist employees with claims.
- Employee Housing: Assign rooms and ensure required housing documents are signed prior to move-in for temporary or year-round housing. Act as a liaison for employee housing needs, including roommate options, cost, and placement. Partner with the Housing Manager and HR leadership to manage available housing for current and upcoming seasons, including placements for international employees (H2B and/or J-1s). Prepare communication for employees about move-in expectations. Finalize departures, communicate expectations, and address security deposit reimbursements or damages.
- Workers’ Compensation: Process new claims, coordinate with insurance carriers, and ensure timely reporting. Conduct investigations of workplace accidents, gather information, and prepare reports. Serve as a point of contact for injured employees, guiding them through the claims process and facilitating communication with medical providers. Develop return-to-work strategies and partner with department leaders on accident prevention initiatives. Ensure compliance with workers’ compensation laws, maintain records, and report on safety and claim trends as a member of the Safety Committee.
- Performance Reviews: Coordinate the performance review cycle, including scheduling, distribution of forms, and collection of completed evaluations for personnel files.

- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or higher in Human Resources, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field required; additional work experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of two (2) years of human resources experience, preferably in a luxury hotel or resort.
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or other HR certification preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds at times.
- Comfortable in a variety of environments, including kitchens, dining rooms, and outdoor venues.
