Contract-to-hire opportunity in ACPWB’s Executive Office team.

About the role

The Human Resources Generalist manages event planning and firm programming for ACPWB’s Executive Office team of 20. Your work product is the operational environment everyone else works in, so the standard is high but the impact is immediate and visible. We are a professional-services firm that practices what it publishes about treating employees well, and that starts with ensuring the people who keep the firm running are recognized and supported. You will handle event planning, firm programming, and everything adjacent to it, working with leadership and staff who are genuinely good at their jobs and genuinely appreciative of people who make it easier to do those jobs. We have a very clean office and intend to keep it that way.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and distribute internal communications, announcements, and documentation on behalf of leadership
  • Coordinate executive calendars, travel arrangements, and meeting logistics for senior leadership
  • Coordinate volunteer and community-engagement activities as part of ACPWB’s firm-culture programs
  • Maintain the firm’s employee directory, organizational charts, and internal resource materials
  • Serve as point of contact for building management, cleaning services, and facilities vendors
  • Maintain organized systems for records, files, contracts, and correspondence in accordance with firm policies

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain organized filing and documentation systems
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise judgment with sensitive information
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative without requiring constant direction
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills with a polished, service-oriented style
  • Friendly, professional presence and the ability to represent ACPWB well to visitors and clients

Qualifications

  • Preferred: demonstrated interest in professional development and expanded scope over time
  • Preferred: background in marketing, communications, or event production
  • Preferred: familiarity with HR systems (Rippling, BambooHR, ADP, or equivalent)

About ACPWB

ACPWB is the right place for people who believe that doing well and doing good are not fundamentally in conflict. We advise on compensation—a topic where decisions have direct, material consequences for working Americans—and we take that accountability seriously. We also pay competitively, consistent with our stated values. Founded in Milwaukee in 2006 with a simple mandate—help working Americans understand and advocate for the compensation they deserve—ACPWB has grown into a full-service research and advisory practice serving clients from early-stage employers to Fortune 50 enterprises. We remain based in Milwaukee because Milwaukee is genuinely underrated.

Interview process

Our process has four stages: a 30-minute talent screen, a 60-minute hiring-manager interview, a 90-minute cross-functional panel, and a final conversation with a senior leader. We aim to complete the process in two to three weeks and communicate outcomes at each stage.

What success looks like in year one

  • Support the successful onboarding of any new hires by managing the logistics and providing a welcoming first day
  • Complete your first annual performance review with documented goals and an honest self-assessment
  • Establish yourself as a reliable, responsive point of contact for the Executive Office team
