This position is part of the MISTAFF collaborative effort involving multiple Michigan education associations.
About the role
We are seeking a dedicated educator to join our team in a K-12 alternative certification program. This role supports aspiring teachers in obtaining certification while addressing critical staffing needs in Michigan schools.
Responsibilities
- Mentor and coach teacher candidates through the alternative certification process.
- Collaborate with school districts to identify and place candidates in high-need teaching positions.
- Provide ongoing professional development and support to candidates during their certification period.
- Monitor candidate progress and ensure compliance with state certification requirements.
- Assist in program evaluation and continuous improvement efforts.
Requirements
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate.
- Minimum of 5 years of successful K-12 teaching experience.
- Experience in mentoring, coaching, or supervising educators.
- Strong knowledge of Michigan teacher certification requirements and processes.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including school districts, universities, and state agencies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with alternative certification programs or non-traditional teacher preparation pathways.
- Background in program development, evaluation, or administration.
- Familiarity with Michigan’s educator workforce challenges and solutions.
