About the role

We are seeking a dedicated educator to join our team in a K-12 alternative certification program. This role supports aspiring teachers in obtaining certification while addressing critical staffing needs in Michigan schools.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and coach teacher candidates through the alternative certification process.
  • Collaborate with school districts to identify and place candidates in high-need teaching positions.
  • Provide ongoing professional development and support to candidates during their certification period.
  • Monitor candidate progress and ensure compliance with state certification requirements.
  • Assist in program evaluation and continuous improvement efforts.

Requirements

  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate.
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful K-12 teaching experience.
  • Experience in mentoring, coaching, or supervising educators.
  • Strong knowledge of Michigan teacher certification requirements and processes.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including school districts, universities, and state agencies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with alternative certification programs or non-traditional teacher preparation pathways.
  • Background in program development, evaluation, or administration.
  • Familiarity with Michigan’s educator workforce challenges and solutions.
