About the role

BL HUMAN RESOURCES (BL-HR-IUBLA) Indiana University (IU) Bloomington Human Resources (HR) manages day-to-day HR operations and drives the implementation of strategic people initiatives for 26 departments, units, and schools across the IU Bloomington campus. This Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) role is part of a Human Resources team providing broad-based HR support to up to approximately 20-25 academic and administrative units in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Serves as a key resource for HR service delivery in a variety of functional areas such as employee relations, talent management, compensation administration, staff development, organizational design and workforce planning, and policy interpretation / guidance.
  • Supports university and campus initiatives related to HR, such as employee engagement, performance management, staff recruitment and retention, budget processes, and organizational design/ effectiveness.

General Responsibilities

  • Utilizes and applies in-depth academic and staff HR body of knowledge and skills to provide tactical guidance for HR related matters like salary administration, hiring, training, and policy interpretation.
  • Solves and provides solutions for more complex employee relations issues with continued partnership, counsel, and support from Centers of Expertise (COEs).
  • Provides HR support for academic personnel processes, including administration for academic leaves, policy review and consultation, visa-processing coordination, and facilitation of promotion and tenure procedures.
  • Collaborates with other business partners and managers to improve and build effective relationships to improve employee engagement and identify "high priority" retention needs.
  • Coaches leaders to help determine best solutions regarding policy interpretation, performance issues, workforce planning, change management, conflict resolution to ensure alignment and consistency across the university.
  • Collaborates with HR COEs to roll out and support university-wide initiatives, ensure client's needs are understood and met, and deliver change management interventions.

Qualifications

  • Preferred Bachelor's degree in Human Resources.
  • Required: 3 years of Human Resources or related progressively responsible experience.
