Where People and Business Intersect Shive-Hattery is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner (HRBP) to serve as a trusted advisor to leaders across assigned Business Units. This role goes beyond traditional HR support—you'll partner directly with leaders to strengthen teams, develop leadership capability, improve employee engagement, and drive business success through people strategies. What You'll Do

  • Partner with Leaders

    • Serve as the primary HR advisor for assigned Business Units.
    • Coach People Leaders through employee relations matters, performance conversations, and organizational challenges.
    • Provide practical, business-focused guidance on complex employee situations.
  • Develop Leadership Capability

  • Build trusted relationships with leaders at all levels.
  • Facilitate leadership discussions, talent reviews, and development planning.
  • Support leadership assessments, onboarding, and growth initiatives.
  • Strengthen Engagement & Culture

    • Partner with leaders to turn engagement survey results into meaningful action.
    • Conduct stay interviews to identify trends and opportunities.
    • Champion an inclusive, high-performing culture aligned with Shive-Hattery's values.
  • Drive Talent & Organizational Effectiveness

    • Support succession planning, internal mobility, and talent development strategies.
    • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition partners to address workforce needs.
    • Identify organizational trends, retention risks, and opportunities to improve team performance.

    Requirements

    • 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including HR Business Partner, HR Generalist, Employee Relations, or business-facing HR experience.

    • Experience coaching leaders and partnering with leadership on complex people matters.

    • Strong relationship-building, communication, and influencing skills.

    • Ability to balance employee advocacy with business priorities.

    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred.

    • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.

    • AEC industry experience is a plus.

    Job Location

    The role involves sitting, standing, and working at a computer for extended periods. May also require lifting light to medium weight objects of up to 50 lbs., the wearing of PPE and navigating active construction sites.
