About the role

The Human Resources Business Partner serves as both strategic and operational support to Shared Services and property Human Resources teams. This role partners with business leaders to support key HR functions including recruiting, onboarding, training, employee relations, engagement, and compliance, while ensuring alignment with organizational and business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with property leadership to align HR support with business needs and operational goals.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for team member inquiries; resolve issues within scope and escalate as appropriate.
  • Provide day-to-day HR guidance, support, and problem resolution across multiple locations.
  • Support property openings, high-volume hiring periods, and other operational initiatives, including Live Racing season.
  • Lead or assist with special projects, HR programs, and cross-property initiatives.
  • Leverage HR and business data (turnover, engagement, productivity, labor metrics) to inform decision-making.
  • Maintain personnel records, HR systems, and the VA operations intranet (Rosie’s Report).
  • Manage full-cycle recruitment, including requisition oversight, job postings, and hiring coordination.
  • Facilitate new hire orientation and support training initiatives as needed.
  • Support employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, and performance concerns, escalating complex or sensitive matters as applicable to HR Leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies and federal/state regulations/postings, including I-9 and OSHA requirements.
  • Process terminations, unemployment claims and support leave administration.
  • Promote a positive, team member-focused culture aligned with Company values (#AddLife).
  • Partner with leadership to support engagement initiatives and efforts to enhance the employee experience.
  • Aid in company-wide programs such as Open Enrollment, engagement surveys, performance review campaigns, training, and TM recognition events.
  • Communicate regulatory updates and streamline licensing and renewal processes.

  • Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality and integrity.
  • Self-starter with ability to independently manage multiple competing demands.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional multi-tasking and organizational skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate well to individuals and groups with widely varying backgrounds, perspectives, education, and skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office, or equivalent, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with emphasis on Human Resources, Business or related fields.
  • At least three (3) years of progressive HR experience in a high-volume workplace.
