Hillyard, Inc. is seeking an experienced Human Resources Business Partner to support our East Region operating out of Lancaster, PA. This on-site position involves frequent travel.

About the Role

As a Human Resources Business Partner, you will serve as a trusted HR resource for managers and employees throughout your assigned region. You'll partner closely with regional leadership to strengthen manager effectiveness, support employee engagement and retention, navigate complex employee relations matters, and ensure consistent HR practices across multiple locations. This role is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys being connected to the business and the people behind it.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted HR partner to managers and employees throughout the Region.
  • Coach and advise managers on employee relations, performance management, leadership, communication, and difficult conversations.
  • Manage employee relations matters, including workplace concerns, investigations, conflict resolution, corrective action, and performance improvement.
  • Partner with leaders to strengthen employee engagement, retention, team effectiveness, and the overall employee experience.
  • Provide guidance on HR policies, employment practices, and local, state, and federal employment laws.
  • Partner with Benefits and HR leadership on FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers' compensation, and other leave matters.
  • Support workforce planning, organizational changes, and other regional HR needs.
  • Partner with hiring managers on recruiting, selection, and onboarding as needed.
  • Identify workforce trends and opportunities to improve HR practices, processes, and programs.
  • Balance strategic HR partnership with the hands-on administrative and operational responsibilities needed to support the region effectively.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience supporting multiple locations and/or employees across multiple states preferred.
  • Strong employee relations experience, including workplace investigations, performance concerns, corrective action, and conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and advise managers at different levels of leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR compliance, and HR best practices.
  • Ability to balance strategic HR initiatives with hands-on, day-to-day HR responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Experience with HRIS systems; Paycor experience is a plus.
  • HR certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR are preferred but not required.
