About the Role

This position is within the Human Resources Capital Career Field and involves supporting military personnel processing at an assigned center.

Responsibilities

  • Aid visitors by directing them to appropriate points of contact within the processing center.
  • Answer and/or forward telephone calls to appropriate personnel.
  • Administer pre-oath briefings to inform applicants regarding processing center procedures.
  • Maintain office security by controlling access (e.g., issuing visitor badges, maintaining visitor logs) via the reception desk.
  • Operate office automation equipment to prepare enlistment and other military personnel documents.
  • Perform records management of electronic and paper applicant records.
  • Obtain military applicants’ fingerprints to initiate background investigations.
  • Perform quality reviews of military applicant records, packets, and forms to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Prepare recruitment and other military personnel documents for individuals enlisting or reenlisting into military service.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Employee may be required to work occasional Saturdays and/or shift work (before 0600 or after 1800 hours).
  • Employee will routinely be required to work unscheduled overtime to accommodate workload fluctuations.
  • Successful completion of applicable Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training is required within 30 days of onboarding.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • One-year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Direct deposit of pay is required.
  • Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from the Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
  • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized.

To qualify, you must meet the following education and/or experience requirements:

  • Specialized Experience (GS-04): At least one year of experience that includes:
    • Utilizing office automation software to update account information.
    • Obtaining data from applicants for completion of personnel records.
    • Maintaining applicant records in accordance with an established filing system.
    • Utilizing appropriate formatting to create written correspondence and/or documents.
  • Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, technical school, junior college, college, or university.
  • Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify if the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

Foreign Education: If using education completed in foreign colleges or universities, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization specializing in interpretation of foreign education programs and deemed equivalent to a U.S. education program.
