Human Resources Assistant / Employee Engagement Assistant - 191297

The Employee Engagement Assistant plays a key strategic role in maintaining and enhancing employee programs within the Office of Human Resources at SCDMV Headquarters in Blythewood, SC.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain the Employee Performance Management System (EPMS) Program, including data entry into SCEIS and tracking completion via departmental logs.
  • Assist with HR training and development programs, including content creation, scheduling, coordination, and facilitation.
  • Cross-train in all functional areas of the Human Resources Department.
  • Update Employee Engagement logs and files as needed.
  • Plan, develop, and administer all aspects of the SCDMV Awards and Recognition Program, including updates to the Award Policy and Manual.
  • Assist with planning and organizing the Employee Appreciation Program.
  • Manage the Agency's Drug and Alcohol testing program, including scheduling employees for testing and updating spreadsheets and logs.
  • Prepare corrective action documents and reprimand removals in compliance with agency policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Stay current on federal and state laws and regulations affecting human resources.
  • Assist with ordering supplies, managing HR shopping carts, and maintaining HR Department inventory.
  • Support New Employment Orientation (NEO) by preparing folders and documents for distribution.
  • Provide assistance with special projects and other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma and administrative experience (a bachelor’s degree may substitute for required work experience).
  • Must complete a nationwide criminal background check, including fingerprinting.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of human resource management.
  • Experience in training, developing training content, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, analyze data, and present ideas effectively.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under general supervision with discretion in routine, well-defined areas; special circumstances must be referred to management.
  • Must be able to lift 10-15 lbs. and work in a busy office environment with processing volume and deadlines.
  • Some travel may be required; long periods of sitting at a computer terminal are necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A high school diploma and four (4) years of clerical or administrative experience (a bachelor’s degree may substitute for required work experience).
  • One to three years of employee relations or human resources experience.
