About the role
The Department of Justice and the United States Attorneys' Offices provide a comprehensive suite of Human Resources program areas for the U.S. Attorney's Office, Northern District of Texas. This position involves supporting administrative/legal professionals and attorneys.
Responsibilities
- Process a wide range of personnel actions within various functional areas of personnel management for assigned service areas.
- Respond to applicants, visitors, and/or telephone callers interested in obtaining employment.
- Process new employees and conduct orientation sessions on topics such as health benefits, life insurance, thrift savings, retirement and military service credit, and deposits/redeposits owed.
- Review, process, and resolve problems/discrepancies relative to personnel actions.
- Collect information for employees and managers/supervisors on employee benefits, and answer questions regarding entitlements.
- Assemble background investigation packages.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- You must be a United States Citizen or National.
- You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
- You may be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
- Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.
- A USA Hire assessment is required. An email will be sent with additional information after you submit your application. You will have 48 hours from the closing date of this announcement to complete the assessment.
Qualifications
- To qualify for the position of Human Resources Assistant, at GS-0203-6/7, you must meet the qualification requirements listed below.
- Specialized Experience - GS06: Applicants must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in Federal service.
- Specialized Experience - GS07: Applicants must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level in Federal service.
