This position supports the Texas Student Experience HR Department and is expected to continue until May 31, 2027. Must be eligible to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer.
About the Role
The Human Resource Assistant II will support many student lifecycle activities, serving as a subject matter expert for student employment and providing guidance on policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Administer all aspects of hourly student employee onboarding, including new hire paperwork, background checks, employment eligibility, and coordination with supervisors to ensure timely and accurate completion of timesheets.
- Act as a student worker subject matter expert, providing high-level expertise to others throughout the portfolio, monitoring Workday tasks, and processing student appointments.
- Provide guidance to students and supervisors on student employment policies, regulations, and procedures. Serve as liaison with other UT Austin offices and colleges as needed.
- Support the HR Assistant Director, assist with special projects, and process Workday reports and audits as requested.
Requirements
- Diploma (High School) or GED.
- At least 2 years of experience in a human resources function.
- Experience working with confidential information.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional and friendly demeanor and ability to use discretion.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and execute tasks with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other standard office applications.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage workloads, and effectively handle competing demands.
- Ability to work well with other departments and employees.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Experience within higher education or a large organization environment.
- Experience using Workday in an HR capacity.

Pay
Salary range starts at $40,000+ depending on qualifications.
Schedule
- Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Non-exempt from FLSA.
- Expected duration: Until May 31, 2027.
- Earliest start date: Immediately.
