Responsibilities

  • Perform necessary clerical functions for the human resources office
  • Maintain up-to-date personnel files
  • Maintain accurate weekly and monthly reports
  • Coincide payroll changes with accounting
  • Process paperwork for terminating employees, including retirement report and forms when applicable
  • Inform new employees of available insurance benefits, procedures, and other related information
  • Coooperate with insurance company regarding claims, resolution of problem cases, and other related functions
  • Maintain the chronological training log and individual training records for all employees
  • Receive visitors and telephone calls; handle routine matters personally and direct non-routine business to proper staff for consideration
  • Type reports, maintain records and files
  • Maintain updated files on employee service awards and coordinate with warden on presentation of awards
  • Provide follow-up correspondence to applicants and agencies regarding employment status
  • Assist the manager, human resources in the advertisement of all open positions with job bid program, state employment department, local newspaper advertising and other appropriate recruitment sources
  • Ensure all new hire information and other personnel changes are entered into the computer and proper notification forwarded to payroll and ensure adequate and up-to-date personnel records are maintained
  • Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed
  • Maintain accountability of inmates and property; adhere to safety practices

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years clerical or related experience required
  • Human Resources experience preferred
  • Valid driver's license in the state of Mississippi or Alabama with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management

Pay

$15.00 per hour

Schedule

Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
