About the Role
Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) is seeking a Human Resources Assistant to join our team to support all administrative functions related to the onboarding of new employees and processing of internal transfers. This position is multi-faceted and handles all initiation of pre-employment requirements, such as background investigations, scheduling of drug screens and physicals, and verification of new hire documents. The environment is very fast-paced, so the ability to multi-task will be important as you review documents for accuracy, schedule candidate interviews, and confirm start dates with new employees.

Performs a variety of general personnel/clerical tasks in areas such as employee records, benefits, education/training, employment, compensation, and equal employment opportunity. Maintains both manual and automated personnel records, collects and compiles sensitive and confidential personnel statistics, and prepares reports. In accordance with procedures, furnishes information to authorized persons and/or agencies. Provides information to all levels of employees regarding personnel policies and procedures.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- 2 years of additional education and/or experience

- Comfortable working in databases and with various software programs (DOMA, Excel, SuccessFactors, and SAP)
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Pay
The anticipated salary range for this role is $45,000.00 to $57,000.00. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
