About the role

The Prince George’s County Fire/Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Department is seeking a Human Resources Analyst I/II to support personnel operations within the Human Resources Division. This professional HR role supports a large public safety workforce and requires the handling of highly confidential personnel records and information.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and review personnel actions for Fire/EMS employees ensuring compliance with Personnel Law and union agreements.
  • Aid in anniversary increase calculations and other salary-related personnel transactions.
  • Analyze and calculate pay adjustments for merit increases, promotions, and demotions.
  • Care for the Special Duty Pay process.
  • Prepare and review Request-to-Hire packages.
  • Generate statistical and analytical HR reports using various software programs.
  • Manage candidate information and recruitment status within NeoGov.
  • Maintain monitoring of departmental interviews and serve on entry-level interview panels.
  • Assist with entrance and promotional examination processes.
  • Ensure examination materials are prepared, distributed, and recovered properly.
  • Prepare examination rooms and ensure proper setup and organization.
  • Serve as a proctor during examinations to ensure compliance with procedures and maintain the integrity of the testing process.
  • Prepare monthly HR reports related to recruitment, vacancies, attrition, and other HR metrics.
  • Prepare reports and documentation to support budget preparation and departmental reporting.
  • Maintain documentation and coordinate data collection for special HR projects.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the Human Resources/Personnel Management, Organizational Development, Business/Public Management, Psychology, or closely related field. An equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Notary Public certification or the ability to obtain one, Experience working in public sector or government human resources, Knowledge of SAP or other HRIS systems, Experience supporting HR operations within a public safety agency (Fire, EMS, Police, or Emergency Management), Experience using NeoGov or similar recruitment systems, Experience with salary administration, personnel action processing, and HR reporting.
