Human Resources Advisor for Enrollment Management
About the role
The Enrollment Management Central Office (EMCO) is a shared services business office supporting the human resources needs of eight Enrollment Management departments: Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Visitors Center, Enrollment Data Analytics, Enrollment Management, Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships, Office of New Student Orientation, Office of the Registrar, and TRIO Programs.
We are seeking an experienced human resources professional to lead HR activities for Enrollment Management. This advisor provides strategic HR guidance, supports workforce planning, and ensures compliance with university policies and state and federal regulations. The position is responsible for all unit HR actions and contributes to a positive, inclusive campus environment by supporting employee engagement, organizational effectiveness, and operational excellence. This advisor serves as a first-level supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic HR guidance to Enrollment Management leadership and departments.
- Support workforce planning initiatives and organizational effectiveness efforts.
- Ensure compliance with university policies and state and federal HR regulations.
- Oversee all unit HR actions, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee relations.
- Promote employee engagement and a positive, inclusive work environment.
- Serve as first-level supervisor for unit staff.
Requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to mentor and lead others.
- Strong confidentiality when handling sensitive HR data.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously with attention to timeliness and quality.
- Knowledge of state and federal HR laws and regulations.
- Ability to analyze requests for compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Clear, accurate, and effective written communication skills.
- Ability to learn and operate multiple HR systems concurrently, including a human capital management system, talent management platforms, and Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of USC HR policies, South Carolina HR regulations, and applicable federal HR laws specific to higher education.
- Prior experience in cross-functional HR program management.
