Human Resource Specialist
Location: Broadway State Office Building, 221 West High Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101
About the role
This professional human resources position offers the exciting opportunity to work in a variety of human resources areas and programs. You will work with a team of dedicated HR professionals, ensuring the HR department’s operations are running efficiently and effectively to deliver maximum value to the Department of Social Services (DSS).
Responsibilities
- Serve as the DSS Workers’ Compensation Coordinator
- Serve as the DSS ShareLeave Chair
- Administer workplace programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- Assist the Human Resources Manager with the overall planning, development, and administration of human resource functions within the DSS IT division
- Participate in the development, interpretation, and application of agency programs, policies and procedures related to state and federal laws and other relevant legal considerations
- Provide oversight of all personnel actions, and direct supervision of a Human Resources Generalist
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of relevant experience (substitutions may be allowed)
Preferred Qualifications
The person in this position must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to function in a fast-paced and detail-oriented environment that will require a sense of urgency and ability to prioritize. Excellent communication, problem-solving, time management, organizational and analytical skills, as well as the ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality are a must.
- Knowledge of, or experience with the State of Missouri’s organizational structure and workers’ compensation program, the principles and practices of human resources, and personnel administration concepts is preferred

Pay
Semi-monthly salary: $2,771.11 (may receive a higher rate based on a pay differential such as shift or time-of-service pay). Annual salary: $66,506.64.
