People & Leadership Support
- Serve as the trusted, go-to HR resource for employees and supervisors across the shipyard
- Support employee relations matters — conflict resolution, performance concerns, disciplinary processes — with sound judgment and a steady hand
- Coach supervisors on how to have hard conversations, document issues, and lead their teams more effectively
- Cook up 90-day and annual performance review cycles
- Absorb recruiting: postings, applicant tracking, interview coordination, and hiring decisions
- Absorb training coordination and workforce development initiatives
Operational & Administrative
- Administer onboarding, benefits, leaves of absence, and personnel changes through HRIS
- Maintain accurate, confidential employee records in both electronic and paper formats
- Generate HR reports and track workforce data — turnover, absenteeism, staffing trends
- Reinforce company policies, safety standards, and workplace expectations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the shipyard — calls, mail, and visitors
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
- 3+ years of HR Generalist experience, preferably in manufacturing, construction, maritime, or industrial environments
- Strong employee relations and coaching skills
- Working knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
- Highly organized, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced, on-site setting
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with HRIS required
- SHRM-CP preferred
