About the Role

The Human Resources Generalist assists the Divisional Human Resources Manager in implementing and executing all HR policies and procedures for WRMG. This role helps create and lead onsite HR programs, assesses employee needs, and engages employees and managers to increase retention, engagement, and development. The Human Resources Generalist manages HR processes and compliance, serves as an onsite subject matter expert, and drives employer relationships externally.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Divisional HR Manager in administering HR policy, procedure, and programs.
  • Develops and executes project plans/timelines and manages expenses to budget.
  • Evaluates effectiveness and efficiency of programs and makes recommendations for enhancements (e.g., onboarding, retention, engagement, and development).
  • Serves as the onsite subject matter expert for all HR processes and compliance; oversees execution, staff training, and ensures compliance.
  • Identifies and executes process improvements.
  • Partners with managers and employees to resolve high-risk or highly sensitive employee relations issues and investigations.
  • Provides support for Plant HR Managers at the direction of the Divisional HR Manager.
  • Assists with the development and execution of HR policies and practices in the division.
  • Provides leadership and support for all WRMG associates.
  • Communicates guidelines, processes, procedures, plans, and policy.
  • Remains informed of changing statutes and regulatory impacts on policies and procedures at the state and federal levels.
  • Champions the company culture and drives an open-door environment.
  • Provides coaching and counseling to managers to increase employee engagement, commitment, and capability.
  • Coordinates the performance management program.
  • Tracks record of establishing alliances with all levels of management while retaining rational independence.
  • Develops strong relationships with the ability to influence, negotiate, and communicate effectively.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality with all sensitive information.
  • Behaves honestly and ethically in all matters.
  • Works with HRMs and associates to resolve issues.
  • Investigates complaints at the direction of the Divisional HR Manager.
  • Facilitates and conducts training for all levels in the Plants as needed.
  • Ensures consistency and fairness.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; measuring and evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field (preferred).
  • SHRM, SPHR certification, or equivalent experience (preferred).
  • 4-6+ years of experience, with 2 or more years in an HR position or equivalent experience.

  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to facilitate cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with project management (preferred).
  • Extensive communication (written and verbal), mediation (conflict resolution), and facilitation skills.

Travel Requirements

Ability to travel as needed, up to 20% of the time.

  • Regularly performs computer work and sits.
  • Occasionally walks and stands.

Independent Judgement

Develops objectives and general policies and procedures for a specific program or functional area of responsibility within the general scope of established operational goals and plans. Day-to-day work and decisions do not require direction or review by an immediate supervisor. End results are reviewed by a supervisor.
