Human Resource Business Partner
Northern, VA – on-site, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day.
About the role
As a Human Resources Business Partner, you will act as a strategic partner and consultant to the business, serving as the initial point of contact for employees and managers on a wide range of HR activities.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine tasks related to the administration, execution, and tracking of human resource activities including staffing, compensation, leave, recognition and morale, training and development, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, and manager coaching.
- Facilitate communication between union representatives and management: serve as a liaison to ensure both parties understand and adhere to the terms of the union contract, mediate discussions, address concerns, and foster constructive dialogue.
- Monitor compliance with labor agreement terms: collaborate with management and union officials to ensure workplace policies, practices, and actions align with the negotiated contract, address potential violations proactively, and recommend corrective actions.
- Partner with recruiting to facilitate onboarding actions.
- Partner with on-site Security and corporate Employee Relations team on employee relations issues, investigations, and other shared responsibilities.
- Monitor and track HR metrics for assigned contract.
- Act as a liaison between employees, leaders, and corporate departments including benefits and payroll.
- Provide proactive guidance to managers and employees on performance management (coaching, career development, counseling, and/or disciplinary actions), communications and training, employee relations issues, interpretation of employment laws, and company policies.
- Support compliance efforts, including the communication, dissemination, and implementation of company policies, as well as federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Support program HR and HRIS activities: validate HRIS data accuracy, org chart alignment, option year Service Contract Act pay rate, wage, health & welfare changes, service bridge processing, vacation/leave info, and other key information; identify errors and make corrections or liaise with appropriate leaders.
- Respond to employment-related questions from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff and conducting follow-up to close out inquiries.
- Support program and company initiatives, track and prepare reports for analysis and distribution, identify best practices, and make recommendations to improve the employee/manager experience (e.g., new hire assimilation, training, performance management).
- Drive change awareness by staying informed of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency with MS Office.
- Must be a US citizen and possess an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.
- Must work on site 5 days per week, 8 hours per day.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous SCA/Union experience.
- Experience with government contracting.
- Working knowledge of WorkDay as the HRIS.
Pay
$90,000–$110,000 USD. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
