Human Factors Engineer - Level 3 or 4 - Space AHT

About the role

Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector has an opening for Human Factors Engineers (levels 3/4) to join our team in Huntsville, Alabama, supporting the Broadsword program. This role involves applying human performance principles, methodologies, and technologies to the design of human-machine systems and products. Candidates will interface with design engineers to establish system design, operating, and training requirements, ensuring optimized human-machine interfaces. Responsibilities include identifying and analyzing technological problems or risks, performing theoretical human factors investigations, and developing and implementing demonstration agendas and plans. Candidates will also support UI and message visualization teams with feedback on human interface design.

Responsibilities

• Orchestrate content and conduct of customer demonstrations of the Broadsword Program and software.
• Ensure successful coordination with all stakeholders, including Program Management, Leads, and technical team members.
• Plan demonstration storyboard, agenda, win theme, and success criteria.
• Design, review, and brief presentations to program leadership and prospective customers.
• Coordinate development goals, fixes, need dates, and code complete milestones.
• Prepare, review, integrate, and test demonstration products developed by software and systems engineering teams.
• Request defect correction and integrate hotfixes.
• Manage logistics including facilities, infrastructure, and hardware.
• Identify, manage, and communicate risks.

Requirements

• Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline and:
  • Level 3: 5 years of related professional/military experience, or
  • Level 4: 8 years of related professional/military experience.
• Must have a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline and:
  • Level 3: 3 years of related professional/military experience, or
  • Level 4: 6 years of related professional/military experience.
• Must have a STEM Ph.D. and:
  • Level 3: 1 year of related professional/military experience, or
  • Level 4: 4 years of related professional/military experience.
• Strong communication skills.
• Experience demonstrating concepts to management and customers.
• Experience with Visualization Tools.
• Experience with software development: C++, Python, Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
• Experience with model-based systems engineering products and/or Mission Engineering (e.g., Cameo Suite) and Agile framework (e.g., Jira/Confluence).
• Experience with MS Office Tools (PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
• Current/active DoD government Secret clearance to start.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Modeling and Simulation.

Pay

Primary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 – $163,200.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $135,800.00 – $203,600.00

The above salary ranges represent general guidelines. Northrop Grumman considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s experience, education, skills, and current market conditions when determining base salary offers. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
