About the role
The Filler Operator is responsible for running and maintaining fillers and related equipment. They process milk, cream, and other beverage products according to specified methods and formulas, ensuring quality, food safety, and adherence to product specifications.
Responsibilities
- Clean, set-up, operate and monitor production line equipment.
- Operate ingredients distribution feeder.
- Complete scheduled quality checks.
- Maintain communication with other departments, management, and associates regarding production issues.
- Analyze process data and equipment performance data to improve quality and troubleshoot.
- Ensure proper packaging materials are used for each product.
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate operating difficulties.
- Perform filler and filler line changeovers.
- Prepare equipment for next run, including size changes as needed.
- Monitor weights, seals, caps, and general packaging of product.
- Adjust filler timing and filling as needed.
- Report any food safety and quality issues to management immediately.
- Document all required information in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Follow Quality Assurance standards and collect required samples for testing.
- Ensure paperwork is filled out accurately and completely.
- Communicate mechanical and operational defects as they arise.
- Work in various temperature-controlled zones, ranging from cold to hot.
- Operate equipment at recommended speeds.
- Work in a cold and wet environment for prolonged periods.
- Reach up to 31-77 inches regularly.
- Occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 3+ months experience in manufacturing, dairy, or another related field preferred.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to communicate effectively when necessary to complete duties.
- Flexibility to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, or crawl.
- Regularly taste or smell milk-based products.
- Occasionally sit and occasionally climb ladders or work on platforms.
- Must be able to work in various temperature-controlled zones ranging from cold to hot.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to work in tight and awkward areas and positions.
- Must be flexible and willing to work the demands of the department.
