About the Role

Performs specialized post-doctoral work in the planning, conducting, and supervision of original research. Responsible for participating in a research project associated with Ph.D. studies and the interpretation of results for publication. Work is performed under the supervision of graduate faculty members with evaluation based on accomplishment of assigned objectives and overall project effectiveness. May supervise research and student assistants.

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory experiments, including cell culture, transfections, mutagenesis, Western blotting, RT-qPCR, and ELISAs.
• Prepare IACUC and IRB regulatory protocols required for the studies.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure the availability of necessary supplies.
• Involvement in studies associated with mouse models of breast cancer.
• Contribute to data collection, entry, analysis, and interpretation of experimental results.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and manuscripts related to research findings.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., D.Sc., M.D.) in the area of project specialization.
• Knowledge of modern research practices, methods, resources, and standards.
• Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives, and exercise independent judgment based on organizational policies.
• Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information to determine procedures, solutions, and outcomes.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with employees and the public.
• Ability to plan and allocate workloads, providing direct training and supervision as needed.
• Fundamental knowledge of computer programming tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, GraphPad, ImageJ, and Photoshop.

In accordance with Texas Executive Order GA-48 and applicable state or federal law, this position may involve access to, work on, or conduct research involving critical infrastructure. It will require background checks, including criminal history and other security-related screenings. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of these checks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with mouse models of breast tumors.
• Knowledge and aptitude in cancer research.
• Experience with diverse post-translational modifications impacting cancers.
• Experience with protein functional analyses and ELISA assays.
