Help support payroll operations for approximately 40,000 full- and part-time employees across multiple locations. This role is ideal for an experienced payroll professional who can analyze complex transactions, identify discrepancies, apply collective bargaining provisions, and ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.The University HR Payroll Coordinator reports to the University HR Payroll Manager and works independently in a confidential environment.Prepare and process payroll transactions in accordance with applicable policies, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements.Perform detailed payroll analyses and audits to confirm accurate processing.Process specialized transactions, including tax form corrections, replacement paychecks, refund checks, duplicate payment corrections, deductions, and tax adjustments.Recalculate payments, deductions, and taxes to ensure employees receive the correct amounts.Review, transmit, and audit payroll data submitted by multiple departments.Apply payroll policies and collective bargaining agreement provisions consistently.Partner with Human Resources Business Partners to support payroll administration and compliance.Review and implement New York State and New York City payroll bulletins.Assist managers with payroll audits and ensure collective bargaining agreement deadlines are met across multiple payroll systems.Investigate payroll discrepancies and recommend corrective action.Respond to employee payroll concerns and determine the appropriate resolution.Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and customer service.Provide accurate and timely payroll guidance to employees and supervisors.Perform related duties as assigned.QualificationsBachelor’s degree required.Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of federal, state, and city laws and regulations affecting payroll operations.Knowledge of job titles, classification systems, and coding structures within New York City or New York State payroll systems.Experience creating and running queries in NYS OSC PSQuery/PeopleSoft and/or NYC CHRMS.Strong payroll analysis, auditing, research, and reporting skills.Ability to interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements and payroll bulletins.High degree of professionalism, personal integrity, and confidentiality.Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.Ability to collaborate effectively with employees and staff at all organizational levels.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.Proficiency with HRIS, payroll, financial, and administrative systems.Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Access and Word, with strong Excel skills.Experience with SharePoint, Dropbox, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and other collaboration tools.Benefits:Health InsuranceSick Time401k Location: 230 West 41st St., New York, NY 10036 Duration: approximately 3 months Apply by deadline: 8/31/2026 Shift Days/Times: M-F/ 9am-5pm Pay Range: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications) By applying for this job, you agree to receive calls, AI-generated calls, text messages, or emails from HEPCO, Inc and its affiliates, and contracted partners.
