HR Manager, Total Rewards
About the role
The Sr. HR Manager, Total Rewards is responsible for leading the strategy, design, administration, governance, compliance, and continuous improvement of BNBuilders’ Total Rewards programs. This role has company-wide responsibility for 401(k), ESOP, compensation, and Total Rewards compliance, including oversight of related program administration, data integrity, regulatory requirements, audits, reporting, collaborating with various departments.
The Total Rewards Manager directly manages the Benefits Specialist and works closely with the Workers’ Compensation & Leave Manager as a peer partner. The two managers collaborate on leaves of absence and disability-related matters where benefits, pay, workers’ compensation, accommodations, and return-to-work programs intersect, while maintaining clear ownership of their respective functions.
Responsibilities
- Lead BNBuilders’ Total Rewards strategy and programs, with primary responsibility for compensation, 401(k), ESOP, benefits, and Total Rewards compliance, ensuring programs are competitive, compliant, financially responsible, and aligned with the needs of a growing construction organization.
- Lead the company’s compensation strategy and administration by overseeing the compensation specialist which would include reviewing compensation structures for field and non-field, market benchmarking and salary surveys; job evaluation and classification; salary ranges; annual compensation planning; pay equity; and compliance with applicable wage, FLSA, pay transparency, and collective bargaining requirements. This builds on the existing construction-specific compensation scope.
- Provide company-wide oversight of BNBuilders’ 401(k) and ESOP programs, including administration, eligibility, compliance, and audits. The role will consolidate responsibilities currently spanning 401(k) administration and ESOP eligibility oversight.
- Oversee BNBuilders’ health and welfare benefit programs and directly manage the Benefits Specialist, providing strategic direction for plan design, renewals, open enrollment, vendor and broker relationships, employee communications, wellness programs, benefit compliance, and overall employee benefits experience.
- Partner closely with the Workers’ Compensation & Leave Manager and broader HR team to provide coordinated employee experience. The Workers’ Compensation & Leave Manager leads leave administration, workers’ compensation, and return-to-work processes, while the Total Rewards Manager provides oversight and expertise where leaves intersect with benefits, disability programs, compensation, payroll, and other Total Rewards programs. This partnership builds on the existing coordination between workers’ compensation, HR, Safety, and leave processes.
- Perform other related duties as assigned in support of business needs and the essential functions of the role.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Organization Development, or a related field or 5+ years of experience as an HR Total Rewards Manager, or a combination of the two.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience, with significant experience in compensation, benefits, retirement programs, or Total Rewards.
- Experience with ESOP administration or an employee-owned organization strongly preferred.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) CEBS (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist) a plus.
- Demonstrated knowledge across multiple HR disciplines, including but not limited to: Benefits administration, Compensation, Compliance/Audits.
- Knowledge of financial management, workforce/capacity planning, and strategic thinking.
- Ability to make quick decisions.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient presentation skills.
- Strong ethical conduct.
Pay
$115,000 - $125,000

This role is not performed in a remote capacity; work is completed in an office/job site setting in a professional office environment.
