Join our community of food professionals as a Human Resource Manager, supporting the Area Director of HR in executing the area vision, direction, and goals. This role helps create a safe, inclusive, and engaging culture while ensuring the organization has the right talent in the right roles to deliver key results.
Responsibilities
- Ensure a genuine safety culture that fosters employee well-being through engagement and leadership accountability; role model and prioritize safety.
- Advocate for a positive employee experience and high engagement; identify and escalate employee experience defects.
- Promote a positive work environment across the market to drive engagement, retention, and performance through consistent execution of LEAD Plays.
- Utilize data and insights to identify opportunities and make recommendations (e.g., EPS action planning).
- Participate in developing department goals and objectives; execute plans to meet these goals.
- Advise supervisors and managers on the application of Company policies to ensure consistency and accurate interpretation.
- Facilitate training as needed (e.g., orientation, leader development).
- Support communication and change campaigns for strategic HR and business priorities, driving employee adoption.
- Lead investigations with support from the Area Director of HR; partner with Compliance on investigations and summarize findings.
- Support recruitment efforts, develop staffing and retention strategies, manage onboarding, performance improvement plans (PIPs), and individual development plans (IDPs).
- Review and coach on hourly-level disciplinary and performance management actions.
- Provide coaching and consulting support to area leaders in talent assessment, planning, and performance management.
- Lead leave administration practices for the market; provide guidance for the interactive process in compliance with ADA and support the Workers Compensation Program.
- Collaborate with and influence market leaders to align HR practices with business objectives.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of US Foods procedures, employment laws, and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Maintain documentation relating to personnel activities such as staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, Affirmative Action Plans, and disciplinary actions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years of HR experience, with at least 4 years in a professional (non-administrative) role.
- Experience consulting with and advising small management teams.
- Strong foundation in core HR fundamentals to support and advise on various HR practices and processes.
- Familiarity with employment legislation such as ADA, FMLA, EEOC, FLSA, and Title VII.
- Working knowledge of MS Office software; familiarity with HRIS; effective presentation skills.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
- SHRM certification desirable.
- Valid driver’s license required; motor vehicle record must be in good standing.
- Travel required: 10-15%.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior employee relations experience and experience working in a collective bargaining environment.
- Experience with affirmative action requirements at a Federal government contractor.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to make timely and informed decisions and understand when to escalate issues.
Work Environment
- Onsite role performed inside a US Foods office-based environment.
- Significant interaction with associates in multiple locations, including distribution centers, driver domicile yards, and occasional customer visits with territory managers.

Pay
The expected base rate for this role is between $75,000 and $120,000, depending on relevant experience, education, skills, function, and geographic location.
