About the role
The Maryland Public Service Commission (PSC) seeks a Human Resources Director to lead the agency's human capital programs and initiatives. The PSC regulates various public utilities and passenger transportation services, including gas, electric, telephone, water, sewage, and taxicab operations.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, providing strategic direction and oversight for talent acquisition, performance management, policy development, workforce planning, and organizational development.
- Foster a high-performing, inclusive, and engaged workforce that supports the Commission's regulatory mission and serves the citizens of Maryland with integrity, accountability, and excellence.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Organization Development, Public Administration or related field.
- Experience: 6–8 years of progressively responsible human resources experience, 3–5 years in a management or supervisory role.
Desired or Preferred Qualifications
- HR Certification - SHRM SCP or HRCI SPHR.
- Experience overseeing multiple HR functional areas (employee relations, recruitment, classification and compensation, benefits, labor relations, training, compliance, leave administration).
- Experience developing and implementing HR policies and strategic initiatives.
- Experience working in government.
